Electrical Mechanic: The diploma program is designed to prepare the graduate for entry-level employment as an Electrical Installation, Maintenance and Repair Technician. This course consists of 60 weeks with 66-quarter credit hours of theory and lab and 6-quarter credit hours of Gen Ed instruction in the areas described below. Each term is 10 weeks in length for a total of 72-quarter credit hours. Each 10-week term is equal to 12-quarter credit hours. Coursework includes:

  • Team Dynamics/Electrical Theory
  • Creative Problem Solving/Wiring Techniques
  • Orginazational Communications/Residential Codes
  • Customer Service/Electro-Mechanical Motor Control
  • Fundamental Concepts of Technical Writing/Commercial/Industrial Codes
  • Professianal and Social Development/Solid-State Motor Control

Electrical Mechanical Technology: This program is designed to prepare the graduate with the theory and working knowledge in Electrical Installation, Maintenance and Repair to go into the field at an entry-level position. The graduate will also be able to wire and troubleshoot programmable logic controllers (PLCs). The program consists of 90 weeks, 93 Quarter Credit Hours of Theory and associated lab instruction in the areas of electrical theory, residential, commercial, and industrial, wiring methods and regulations, motor control, computer aided drafting, direct digital controls and programmable controllers. Additionally students will receive 15 Quarter Credit Hours of General Education totaling 108 Quarter Credit Hours. Coursework includes:

  • Electrical Schematics/Team Dynamics
  • Residential Electricity/Creative Problem Solving
  • Commercial I/Organizational Communications
  • Industrial I/Business Spreadsheets
  • Commercial II/Fundamental Concepts of Technical Writing
  • Industrial II/Professional and Social Development
  • Computer – Aided Drafting (CAD)/Business and Professional Presentations
  • Programmable Logic Controllers/Analysis and Development of Applied Technical Writing
  • National Electrical Code (NEC) Review/Project Management/Communication in Interviewing
  • Electrical Mechanics - Diplopma
  • Electrical Mechanics Technology - Associate of Occupational Studies
