About Early Childhood Education: A love of children, a passion for teaching, and an overarching interest in grooming tomorrow's good citizens are all at the center of a career in Early Childhood Education. A job in Early Childhood Education requires patience, persistence, and creativity. Most early childhood education professionals work at least 40 hours a week, but additional hours are not uncommon as work loads vary throughout the school year. Moreover, early childhood education professionals are licensed by state and/or local bodies, which vary depending upon their location of employment, which often requires additional schooling and testing outside of regular teaching hours. While many early childhood educators don't necessarily have all summers off, they do enjoy longer vacations and times away from school than individuals in many non-education professions.

Early childhood educators day-to-day tasks involved the planning and preparation of lesson plans and homework, instructing students in a classroom setting, evaluating student performance and classroom behavior, and reporting both to parents several times a school year and whenever necessary. They also must maintain classroom discipline and deal with other issues that may tend to arise with young children, and working with parents and administrators when necessary to address any such issues.

As mentioned early childhood educators will be required to maintain various certifications depending upon the requirements of their state and/or locality.

With the impending retirement of many education professionals, the job outlook for early childhood educators is excellent and expected to continue to grow, with a 9% to 17% growth expected through the years 2014.
